Monday, December 21, 2009 - This morning just after 10 A.M. Garden City (STA. 65) was dispatched for the Ladder to assist Brookhaven (STA. 52) on the Building Fire in the 3400 BLK of Victor Ave. Ladder 65 responded under the direction of Chief Joe Lombardo (65-9). Assistant Chief Charlie Leslie (52-9B) was on location first with a 2 story cape cod with Heavy Fire showing on side “Alpha”. Engine 45 arrived and laid a supply line while Quint 52 took the front of the building. Ladder 65 arrived and was ordered to throw ground ladders, and start ventilation by opening a hole in the roof. Crews made an aggressive interior attack before being evacuated due to deteriorating conditions on the inside. Numerous master streams were set up to extinguish the blaze. Units remained on scene for almost 4 hours before being released. Pictures by Larry Hunter Jr.
