Just before 1 A.M. Springfield (Sta. 44), Garden City (Sta. 65), Swarthmore (Sta. 14), Broomall (Sta. 53), and Media (Sta. 23) were dispatched to Springfield Hospital for the fire alarm. Lieutenant Steve Edwards (44-13C) went responding and was advised by the Police and by hospital maintenance that there was no evidence of smoke or fire. 44-13C went on location and had a smoke condition on the 1st floor and the assignment was upgraded to a Building fire. Ladder 65 responded under the direction of Chief Joe Lombardo (65-9). Upon arrival Ladder 65 was ordered by Assistant Chief Mike Huczko (44-9B) to send a crew in to assist Engine 44’s Crew inside to try and locate the source. After further investigation it was found to be a wall heater. Ladder 65 remained on location for about an hour before being released.
